Dust City is a young adult fantasy novel based on the question, if fairy tales are archetypal histories that recur indefinitely what would their present incarnations look like? In this case, magic (also known as fairy dust) would be sold as an illicit street drug on one hand, while also turning massive profits for large thaumaturgical companies on the other. The story concerns Henry Whelp, a young wolf whose father is imprisoned for the double homicide of a little girl and her grandmother. In 2011, the novel was awarded an Edgar Allan Poe Honour for Best Young Adult Mystery.
