Interview with French performance-maker Phia Ménard:

Phia Ménard trained and worked as a performer, a juggler and a dancer before starting the company Non Nova in 1998 and directing her own performances. In 2008, she started the ‘I.C.E’ (‘Injonglabilité complémentaire des éléments’) research project which explores the representation of transformations, erosions, and vital balances with a special interest for the interactions between human and non-human bodies in the context of the anthropocene. Since then, she has organised her work in cycles: the Ice Pieces (P.P.P, 2008 and ICEMAN, 2009), the Wind Pieces (L’après-midi d’un foehn, Version 1, 2008, Vortex, 2011, Les Os noirs, 2017) and the Water and Steam Pieces (Belle d’hier, 2015 and Contes immoraux, 2017-2021).
