<p>This paper introduces the concept of 'humanising pedagogy', illustrates attempts to humanise pedagogy within both formal and informal higher education, and considers the limits and possibilities of these practices in the two contexts. The aim is to evoke critical discussion about justifications for being in, against and/or beyond our existing institutions for the purposes of critical education.</p>
