The piece ‘Tonguing’ was performed at Body Parts 2, Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh in February 2006 and reviewed in ‘Reviews’, The Herald 21 February 2006, and List magazine Feb. 2006. This piece has also been performed at 12th International Sample of Performance Art, Ex Teresa Arte Actual, Mexico City 2006; Arnolfini, Bristol 2007. A modified version ‘Tonguings’ was also performed at international platform Sensitive Skin May 2006, Future Factory, Nottingham Trent University as part of an annual two month programme of live, interdisciplinary acts and international performance artists participating included Robin Deacon, Shiela Ghelani and Anne Seagrave. The piece ‘Tonguing’ includes the use of a replica human tongue cast from the artist in British seaside candy rock, and for the purposes of the performance, this is affixed at head height to wall. Through the duration of the performance the tongue was carved by the artist’s tongue until the inner text was revealed in the replica. Supporting documents include a brochure, witness accounts, still photographs, reviews and websites.
