[twelve images from] Orchard Park

<p>Rethinking the Photographic Image (22.04.06 – 25.06.06) was a major survey of photographic work from the collection of George Eastman House (GEH) Museum of Photography, NY. The show was curated by James Wyman in association with GEH and featured twelve images from Andy Lock’s Orchard Park series, alongside the work of major practitioners from the 19th and 20th centuries. Orchard Park continued Lock’s photographic exploration of the psychological legacies of previously inhabited spaces; taking as its subject dispossessed domestic interiors and the artefacts left behind by past occupants. Orchard Park made use of a unique process for creating unfixed images and engaged with notions of entropy, decay, loss and memory in relation to the photographic image. The University Of Michigan Museum Of Art’s show was the first showing of this completed work, in its entirety. Work from Orchard Park had previously been exhibited, while in development at Focal Point Gallery, Southend (08.05.04 – 19.06.04). This show, 20 Shadows, was curated by Lesley Farrell. It was reviewed by Source magazine (issue 39), a-n (20.07.04) and by The Guardian website (02.06.04). Orchard Park is held in the collection of The V&A, London as well as by George Eastman House. Work from Orchard Park was also exhibited at Stephen Cohen Gallery, CA (12.01.06 – 25.02.06). Orchard Park has been reproduced in Portfolio magazine (Issue 43, ISSN 1354 4446) & in EXIT magazine (Madrid, issue 26, ISSN 1577 272 1). A book, Orchard Park (with an essay by Alison Nordström, Curator of Photography at GEH) was published by Impressions Gallery, UK, in 2006 (ed. Anne McNeill, ISBN 0 906361 91 5). The work is also reproduced in the V&A’s Twilight catalogue, (M. Barnes & K. Best, Merrell, 2006, ISBN 1858943531) and in Ball and Naylor, Form Follows Idea, (Black Dog, 2005 (ISBN 1904772218).</p>
