<p>The city cannot be sustainable if it is occupied by cars. People cannot be healthy if they don’t move or don’t leave their from homes. The society cannot be democratic if people don’t meet each other and a city is the perfect place to do so. One of the most renowned urban planners – Jan Gehl – has proven in Copenhagen, Melbourne, New York and other urban environments that a city could be reclaimed and people can start using their own muscles and bicycles againg. The article, which is based on analyses of Jan Gehl’s projects and on interviews with Jan Gehl and Lars Gemzoetells, presents a series of tools and techniques of how to change cities and make them more attractive places.</p>
