<p>Media, politics and the Cyprus Problem are themain themes of the present study. Through analysisof Greek and Turkish Cypriot television newsbulletins and newspaper editorials and leading articles,the study seeks to establish media approachesand positions on important issues so as to betterunderstand their work, role and functions. Thestudy analyses practices and positions related to theCyprus Problem, the solution, matters of identity,the ‘others’ and the European Union, the authoritiesand the political forces. This attempt to ascertainthe underlying values that guide news selectionand content will provide a clearer picture of how themedia interacts with or influences society.</p>
