This is a poster presentation abstract to be presented at ASM Microbe 2024 conference in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Accurate phenotypic identification of Salmonella spp. using traditional methods is an ongoing challenge due to the close phylogenetic relationship with other genera, such as Citrobacter and Proteus. Employing molecular methods hold promise for improving Salmonella identification and avoiding the pressing issue of false-positive identifications.
