Steeple Row: opportunities for enhancement
This research report was commissioned by East Cambridgeshire District Council and undertaken as research consultancy under by the Liveable Cities Research Group. It was produced as part of a wider urban design project aimed at improving the public spaces around Ely Cathedral in the City of Ely. The scheme, which particularly investigated the spatial design problems associated with the juxtaposition of the rear of High Street shops with the close surrounding the Heritage site of Ely Cathedral, was a participatory design initiative which sought to draw local people into the design process. This was done through a series of consultations via public exhibitions and public workshops. The report summarises the design process, the consultations undertaken and the outcomes. It is available to the public upon request to the City Council and through the Council's website.
